Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections | Summit

A soft subtle reflection of the sky in a puddle of resting water. After hiking to the summit of Grandfather Mountain, and crossing the gorge via the Mile High Bridge, I was treated to this beautiful view. What a lovely reflection.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful | For The Years Of Love

I have been so blessed to have a daughter who has given me a lifetime of joy and happiness. She passed away last year at age 33. Thoughout the years, I watched her grow from a young child full of playfulness, to a woman of spirit, and to a mother who could love her children unconditionally. We had some good times, the best of times, and a few times when we were at odds with each other. But then, that is the nature of relationships. Especially between father and daughter. But in-between we shared the greatest of moments. Moments that I am truly thankful for and will cherish for the rest of my life. Here’s to you my lovely daughter. All in Love.
A Rewind: Grandfather Mountain | Hiking in 2002

One of the coolest places at elevation in North Carolina is Grandfather Mountain. It is home of the mile high swinging bridge. At just over 6000 feet it is one of the highest mountain peaks in the state.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful | For The Road Back Home

Taking the road back home. Traveling north on route 13 along the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Having just left Virginia Beach via the Chesapeake Bay Tunnel, our destination is Philadelphia. We are thankful for a beautiful morning with a lovely fog filled landscape. Looking forward to seeing my grandchildren and family.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful | Grandchildren

It has been a year and a half since my lovely daughter Lady passed away. She has left me and all who love her four beautiful children. I am so thankful and blessed to have them to share life and the memory of their mother. Pictured here are Ming age 2 and Syerra age 14. I had a wonderful holiday filled with their love and laughter.
art and thoughts remixed | an abstraction of historical things – intro

On the beach. With memories and historical things.
I am starting a new series. Or will at least move in that direction. Lots of history to my life; some joyous moments full of magic, some of it dark and full of lost. Explored and exposed. Expressed in art and penned in prose. Remixed and reinterpreted. Image and diary.
Another Winter: On The Beach

2012 in passing
Cold morning winds and breaking waves;
Virginia Beach and the memories behind us
Another Winter: The Haunting Reality Of Things Lost

It’s there
Surrounding your every memory
The haunting reality of things lost
A Rewind: Paris | The River Seine

In 1990 I had the pleasure of going to Paris, France. I took the trip alone from the Netherlands. What an adventure seeing this beautiful city. I visited all the major museums in the city center along the river Seine. And of course the Eiffel Tower, the Latin Quarter and surrounding areas. I will always remember that moment in front of the Nord, thinking I was a long way from home.
A Rewind: The World Spins Black / White | 1991

In 1991 I created the video installation entitled: The World Spins Black/White. This digitally composed photograph is a snapshot of a world globe wrapped in barbwire and decaying roses that I suspended above the rest of the installation. The piece itself was an examination of a society in civil and social unrest. For a review of the actual video installation at Highwire Gallery in Philadelphia, please feel free to go to my Youtube channel located in the above menu bar. And select The World Spins Black/White video.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Green | Rafting

Green means whitewater rafting down a raging Nantahala River in a green raft.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Green | Lilies

Green means beautiful reflections and a pond of green lilies.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Green | The Park
This is an interesting challenge. And a challenge to post mainly because it is asking for a multiple of images per post. However, because I am using my phone to post to the challenge, I do not have the capability, or have not figured out, how to post multiple images. Sigh. So please bear with me with the single image.
Nothing brings green to the forefront like a park. This digital collage created in 1997, is one of my first large-scale (42″ x 48″) prints. I’ve always loved this piece. I took all the park photos in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia while biking and hiking. I combined them with archival photos of my family in Central Park and 4th of July picnics. Green dominates the feeling of the piece. Lush and beautiful. The Park 1997.
New Landscapes: Fall In Dreams

it’s there
left Behind
in an autumn past
– your dreams
memories in decay
like falling leaves
with nothing
– to believe
New Landscapes: Fall In Fashion – Hiking Boots

burnt umber
and golden-yellow
reddish tints
and layered colors
trace the path
fore and aft
a distant waterfall
cascading just beyond
my intrepid reach
– married
to the tonal beauty
that surrounds it
It’s Autumn in the mountains of North and South Carolina. Time for a moment of inner reflection, tranquility, and a zen-like trek; to be found in the ascension. And realized at the summit of sky and earth
New Landscapes: Fall In Fashion – Windbreaker
This past summer; a beautiful discovery – a lovely beach of sand and surf; Tybee Island in Georgia near the historic City of Savannah. Now the warm rays of the sun and the hot, humid air has slowly turned crisp and cool as Autumn and Fall have arrived. A quaint bed and breakfast stay is in the conversation and beckons us to return. The prospect of long lingering walks on nearly deserted beaches entice our senses. What’s the in-wear for Fall walks on the beach? For me, it all starts with the perfect windbreaker; blue nylon cover with soft white cotton inner, and hoodie. You’re on the beach, so shorts are still in order, (no matter how chilled it is), graphic T, or striped polo, with low-top Chuck Taylors. For Nancy, it’s all about her wearing her favorite windbreaker (yellow) as well. She’s also in a light pink wool sweater, brown corduroy leggings and pink high-top Chucks. It’s a long lovely walk on the edge of the ocean. The azul blue sky with scattered white coulds surrounding our every step. Our conversation and laughter going hand in hand with the pulse of the day.
New Landscapes: Fall In Fashion – Team Jersey

It’s Fall, and the new season of the Barclays Premier League is under way. You’re in North London, under the lights. At the Emirates Stadium, and home of FC Arsenal. You’re in the flow. It’s a fascinating moment, here with the crowd of 70,000. Wearing the traditional red and white and cheering your favorite club. Go Gunners!
This short segment from The Fall Series, focuses on what’s in fashion during the season. What we wear as we head out in full discovery. Next up: New York City and the Next Wave Festival.
New Landscapes: Fall In Season

a life is beautiful
when it’s warmth and memory
takes you back
to the place where all this started
this love of life
this meaningful pulse
colored in nature’s heaven

New Landscapes: Fall In Motion

The leaves will soon be changing
Falling on unyielding trails
The air crisp and chilled
Sweeping through barren trees
And the lightly falling snow
Fall on the mountain –
Our bikes in fluid motion
New Landscapes: Fall In Abstract – Flight

a dragonfly in flight
– in May
on summer’s wispy wind
taking hold of the endless day
the warmth in subtle greens and blues
now twilight in Fall’s approach
