variations | into abstraction: the place where all this started, this thirst (the playground remix)
experiment: data complex 9 | a world inside (a zen nature remix) | video art in HD
*****************************************************************
“A World Inside (A Zen Nature Remix)” is an audio and visual remix of the video piece I composed a few months back entitled “Zen Nature | Landscapes for Well being”. In this remix I added the spinning globe, which I have been featuring in my two previous videos. The emerging global image represents the continuous complexity of societal and existential relationships: In “Data complex 7”, the focused was on social, civil, and political entities. In “Data Complex 8”, I explored emotional ambiguities, abstract thought, and memory attachments as it pertains to the individual. In this piece, “Data Complex 9”, I draw attention to the Earth itself, as a landscape for well-being and Spiritual connection. In the remix, small distinct sound samples were added to the soundtrack, along with poetic thought to the visual construct. The actual visual and aural part of the video ends around the 5 minute mark, with an additional 1:46 seconds of a black screen and silence. “Into creation, into silence”. A moment for the viewer to explore his or her own meditative recollection.
variations | into abstraction: a thoughtful moment on the horizon
It came to me
like a flash
[white
vertical
light]
ascending;
> i was,
… bound
with this thoughtful moment
of self reflection
and disappearance …
just beyond
the distant horizon
variations | the view across the lake (a picture never completes the thought remix)
Sometimes, no matter the view, the picture never completes the thought.
variations | seconds from a waking sunrise with you

full of reflection
the rising sun,
and your thoughts
just beyond
> waking in seconds
variations | a pattern of maps and trails

without hesitation
i followed
my map
your trail
> to the point of dreaming
variations | biking (a maps, quotes, and trails remix)
The bicycle, the bicycle surely, should always be the vehicle of novelists and poets. ~ Christopher Morley
When I go biking, I repeat a mantra of the day’s sensations: bright sun, blue sky, warm breeze, blue jay’s call, ice melting and so on. This helps me transcend the traffic, ignore the clamorings of work, leave all the mind theaters behind and focus on nature instead. I still must abide by the rules of the road, of biking, of gravity. But I am mentally far away from civilization. The world is breaking someone else’s heart. ~ Diane Ackerman
Life is like riding a bicycle – in order to keep your balance, you must keep moving. ~ Albert Einstein
After your first day of cycling, one dream is inevitable. A memory of motion lingers in the muscles of your legs, and round and round they seem to go. You ride through Dreamland on wonderful dream bicycles that change and grow. ~ H.G. Wells, The Wheels of Chance
variations | a day in the life: 12pm on Paris Mountain

It’s a beautiful day here at the base of Paris Mountain. The elevation is 1,200 feet and I plan to climb to 1,400 feet. It may not sound like much but the climb is about 2 miles. And the gradient is pretty steep. The downhill fast and sweeping. Last week, I was on the trails, and now the road. I have my ipod and will be listening Bvdub’s new cd “Born in Tokyo.”
variations | aboard our vessel, our dreams afloat

we stood together
> at sea
our dreams afloat
variations | the beautiful things we dream together

in a forever moment
an everlasting capture
… the intimacy
of a beautiful yearning
variations | a day in the life: gas and go

It’s always about a ‘fast stop’; spinning wheels and getting the gas. With the price of gas being what it is, it’s a daily routine.
variations | a day in the life: bike and mountain

Today the mountain called. Beautiful was the color of sky and earth.
variations | a day in the life: cats and boxes

Another one of those moments here at home. Thai-G and Little Baby needing to find the smallest box possible. It’s called love in a box.
variations | a day in the life: wheelchair at Burger King

I thought I would, on occasion, randomly post scenes from everday life. I will be using Paint Sketch mobile software on my Galaxy Note II.
experiment: data complex 8 | a world floating by for you and i | video art
********************************************************************
“A World floating By For You and I” is an expression of ambiguity in how we exist within the world around us.
experiment: data complex 7 | a world apart | video art
*******************************************************************
After several weeks of editing, I have completed my most recent video in my “Experiment: Data Complex” series. It is entitled ” A World Apart” and it focuses on the historical, and current separatist constructs that have negatively affected African-Americans and society as a whole. The Data Complex series brings together modern digital technology, and ambient music with various visual artistic styles such as Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism, and Futurism to convey its message. Recently I watched the video of the Jay Z performance art piece entitled “Picasso Baby” at the Pace Gallery in New York City. His merging of Hip Hop culture and High Art culture was impressive. As a digital artist, and an African-American artist, I believe as Jay Z so eloquently said, that (and I paraphrase) it is a time for us to take the technology and expand our vision for the world to see. I hope to always push forward and merge the boundaries of digital art, video art, and contemporary soundscapes as tools to bring together “A World Apart”.
