Post Canvas and Paint: Variations | Light and Dark

Post Canvas and Paint: Variations | Light and Dark

Well for the last several months, all of the art I’ve been posting has been created using a Samsung phone and the PicsArt app. In some instances, I combined older digital work, with newly created pieces. It was a challenge to work in such a small environment. But I must say, it did feel like I was walking around with a sophisticated notepad and colored pencils. Now I am happy to say that I am now sitting in front of my new Windows 8 desktop. Big screen. More processing power. And although I am now using the pre-installed Adobe Photo Elements instead of my more familiar Corel Photo Paint Pro, I am happy to have considerably more freedom to create art and the capability to write with more depth and length. I have always used Corel over Adobe, so this will be a learning curve. Here is my first entry using the Adobe software. I will be experimenting and posting the results.

Post Canvas and Paint: Variations | A Barren Autopsy

Post Canvas And Paint: Variations ~ A Barren Autopsy

a barren autopsy
of ourselves;
the lack of compassion
for a deep sense of lost
and stolen innocence

what do we see
when we look in the mirror
on cold December nights
but the tears of children
falling from our eyes …

As a society we are becoming numb to reason. And as a consequence, we may one day lose our humanity.

Post Canvas and Paint: Variations | Last Train

Post Canvas And Paint: Variations ~ Last Train

The night was falling
into a distant rumble;
churning and grinding
like tearful strokes

dreaming in memories;
the sound
and the acid smell of diesel
eating away this very moment
our every gesture of things promised

Weekly Photo Challenge: Changing Seasons | Moments

Often a season is defined by the time of year, yet it can also bring us home. Home to a unique time in our lives. Where the joy of life blooms like Spring, fuels us like Summer, comforts us like Autumn, and brings loved one’s together like Winter.

Life in changing seasons.

art and thoughts remixed | an abstraction of historical things – the world under the heavens | dec 1988

art and thoughts remixed | an abstraction of historical things - the world under the heavens | dec 1988

the meetings are now on Sunday @ 1pm
yesterday we took group photos for the press release
– created postcards and graphics
talked and organized

back in October
we went to the American Music Theater Festival
you and i
to see 1000 Airplanes on the Roof
a science fiction music drama

it felt like the duration of timelessness
here in the empty space
a long time after
the things never remembered
your art, my art,
has always had its own history
– lost in stolen innocence
in this world
under the heavens

Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections | In The Reflection Of Waking Waterfalls And Sunny Days

In the reflection of things experienced … life as we dream it.

in the morning mist

like the sparkling sound
a cascade of falling water

Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections | Cats, Reflections, and Surrealism

Some reflections can be found in nature: Elements of light, time, Spirit, and material compositions coming together to create moments of beauty. Then there are man-made reflections; designs, concepts, ideas, and digital manipulations, creating new ways of seeing a world in reflection. Here is an example of the latter: My cats, my design studio, and an idea that reflects my vision.

art and thoughts remixed | an abstraction of historical things - when the world you used to know has been deconstructed | jan 1987

that afternoon i got the call
we didn’t do any work as a group
– afterwards
in the rain with the sleet and mist
a self-awareness deconstructed
to be thought of as weird trying to be normal
– a tentative thought
but i soon found out – asleep
in the abandoned monorail station
that everything was fine

An image that is part of my “Post Canvas and Paint” series. A surreal reflection of a lake in a place unknown. A reflective dream of ambiguity.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful | For The Years Of Love

Weekly Photo Challenge: Thankful | For The Years Of Love

I have been so blessed to have a daughter who has given me a lifetime of joy and happiness. She passed away last year at age 33. Thoughout the years, I watched her grow from a young child full of playfulness, to a woman of spirit, and to a mother who could love her children unconditionally. We had some good times, the best of times, and a few times when we were at odds with each other. But then, that is the nature of relationships. Especially between father and daughter. But in-between we shared the greatest of moments. Moments that I am truly thankful for and will cherish for the rest of my life. Here’s to you my lovely daughter. All in Love.
