Weekly Photo Challenge: Renewal

A favorite form of renewal for me is meditation. The quiet process of becoming self-aware. Often in my meditation practice I bring my awareness to the energy centers of the body. Most notably defined as the chakras. The 4th chakra featured in this challenge of renewal is known as the heart chakra Anahata. Green is the color of this chakra. At the center of any kind of renewal is the heart. When this chakra is in balance, we are open to love, renewal and expression. This work of art is part of The Silence Series: Chakra Colors For Meditation.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Geometry

The last day of the Geometry challenge, and I thought I would include one more entry. I have really enjoyed the challenge. I think a lot of my work can relate to the principles of geometry. This last post contains the piece entitled: “First You Make A Roux”. During my visit to New Orleans last year, I came across an antique shop which had the slogan painted on the window. I snapped the photo and then created this collage. Hope you enjoy.
New Landscapes: Winter – Departure Songs And Shattered Recordings

Oh if it’s more than I should
It’s more than I ever could
If my heart needed you to stay
At the end of the day
Would you go
Oh my life’s story is so thin
Underneath this torn skin
Lost in the hardness
Of this bitter chill
– a Winter
With nothing more to fill
Oh it’s more than I ever should
– if only
I could
Weekly Photo Challenge: Geometry
This piece is one of my favorites. In designing this digital collage I was attempting to bring the mind to a point of focus. Everlasting Consciousness. The Awareness of Light. This piece may not necessarily point to more traditional forms of geometric art. But I do believe it does perhaps achieve an ethereal, spacial, mathematical sensibility. Consciousness is design. Consciousness in its geometric form … is Divine.
New Landscapes: Winter – Tape Loops And Departure Songs

I just want to lie down
In the cold white snow
And listen
To the dreams
Come crashing down
I just want to sit down
In the bitter Winter snow
And listen
To the silence
Come screaming in
Weekly Photo Challenge: Geometry

Here is a rewind from my trip to New Orleans. An earlier post entitled: A Bridge Never Too Far (A Seeing Through Everything Remix). I thought this digital collage would be perfect for this challenge. A layered fusion of angles and perspective. Hope you enjoy.
a rewind: n e w d i g i t a l s c a p e s: the abstract series (and some thoughts on joy and expression)
I recently published a small square, hard cover book of abstract digital art, poetry, and prose. What an exciting endeavor. The process was full of challenges, twists and turns (visually speaking), color, and contemplation. Many nights were spent with candles aflame, incense burning and music playing. In trying to find that inner connection, with all my experiences in life, I soon discovered the process that would motivate me unconditionally: Work with love. Work with intent. Art is a beautiful thing. Being in touch with the art of others is very inspiring and uplifting as well. As artists, writers, poets, and musicians we’ve come to love and appreciate the many vehicles for creative expression and community. Sharing our work is very important. Our blogs, books, exhibits, and performances are all vital in healing the soul of the planet. Our shared joys and tragedies find themselves being expressed and transformed via the beautiful and meaningful art that you and I create. Let us never forget, the significance of what we create, love and share.
New Landscapes: Winter – A Tape Recording Of Your Departure

we could fight
on a cold winter night
– with bitter kisses
New Landscapes: Winter – The Film Of Life

An empty theater
A foreboding glacier chill
The bitter reminder
Of a life story un-fulfilled
New Landscapes: Winter – The Never Ending Darkness

Without ever an end
This tunnel of love
Filled with the coldness of night.
New Landscapes: Winter – The Lost Beauty Of Incomplete Things

A journey so far
Miles from your arms
Cascading down
Falling like stars
The rocky spiral of moments
– lost
On the cliffs of Winter
And the bone shattering sadness
Found in the dark below
And in the watery grave …
The lost beauty
Of incomplete things
New Landscapes: Fall In Play 05 – Loop

One of the more exciting elements of mountain biking is going around in circles. Yes, the loop. Four miles. Eight miles. Sixteen miles. Ascending then descending. Round and round. Flashing by beautiful vistas; man-made lakes, mountain summits, and ridges. All swirling by your mind’s eye, without pause to the rewind. Let’s play on a Fall day … the loop de loop.
New Landscapes: Fall In Play 02 – Start

Well here I am around noon today. My Trek bike and I are stationary on the ridge of a man-made lake which is under construction. Preparing for the first descent. It is a beautiful Fall day indeed. Mild temperatures and blue sunny skies. Mesmerizing and zen-like. Music on my Ipod; trance-like and meditative. Time to play. Lets start.
New Landscapes: Fall In Starlight
life on the edge
of everything remembered
– here
with the starlight
in your eyes
and the twilight
in the rainbow sky
New Landscapes: Fall In-Between
the narrow way
from
the descent
the broad way
– to it
Life in recovery through the colors of art
Finding the true self on the path of liberation …
New Landscapes: Fall In Expressionism
It appeared seductively
In Autumn’s sweet voice
Whispering with a vision
Beautiful am I not
Here with you
Coloring your day
New Landscapes: Fall In Abstract – Flight

a dragonfly in flight
– in May
on summer’s wispy wind
taking hold of the endless day
the warmth in subtle greens and blues
now twilight in Fall’s approach
New Landscapes: Fall In Reflection – Part 02

Part 2 of Fall In Reflection. A Compositional change in form; moving toward subtle abstraction.
What Do You Remember When Swimming In A Deep Blue Sea

Adrift
In a deep reflection
Lost at sea
With memories
Drowning
Sinking
In a pool of you
With the darkening blue
A drowning so timeless
Endless without you
What Do You Feel When You Look Skyward

i often look skyward
to direct my focus inward
sometimes feeling the sky speak
as I see things in a different light.
– than yesterday
the rain has gone
falling earthbound
– like the pepples of broken nights
with my dreams
lost in weary shadows
not to far behind
– from yesterday’s rising sun

Your thoughts and comments are welcome. And with the holiday season on the horizon, perhaps you will find it to be the perfect gift. Peace and Love.
Another Earth: Ferris Wheel
Just across the ocean, under a glistening sky, a new town, a turning place, one that we have yet to discover …
there’s a happiness
come to earth
with its new birth
spinning lightly in the night sky
children play with their dreams
– unaware
enchanted by the magic and loss
that has come to town
our every wishful moment
– found here
on the Ferris Wheel of Life …

One of my favorite film soundtracks is BT’s Ferris Wheel – Love Theme from the film Monster starring Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci. A beautiful and haunting song. It hangs in the balance of love and life and its uncertainty.

Another Earth: The Transcending Dream
You touched me with your thoughts as I felt your dreams float away …
in a dream
another earth …
Another Earth: Bridge Over Water
If on a beautiful day at the beach, we could just bridge the gap between our dreams and our reality …
I often find in the solace of nature’s tranquility, my mind, floating on the ocean waves, and soaring with the clouds above. Here my dreams drift. With untold stories of yearning. A forgotten moment here, an aspiration there. All together within me.
Perhaps gone and abandoned.
Until this very thought, this very day. On the beach. And now, fully free of life’s constraints, I walk across this bridge. A bridge over endless water … The internal ocean of desires.
the deep blue sea
floods my being
– with discovery
and perpetual longing
– unfolding
