Music From India – Hazrat Inayat Khan

Music from India – Hazrat Inayat Khan. North Indian classical music.

Stan's avatarWorld Music - the Music Journey

Hazrat Inayat Khan (Urdu: عنایت خان ) (July 5, 1882 – February 5, 1927) was the founder of The Sufi Order in the West in 1914 (London) and teacher of Universal Sufism. He initially came to the West as a Northern Indian classical musician, having received the honorific “Tansen” from the Nizam of Hyderabad, but he soon turned to the introduction and transmission of Sufi thought and practice. Later, in 1923, the Sufi Order of the London period was dissolved into a new organization, formed under Swiss law, called the “International Sufi Movement”. His message of divine unity (Tawhid) focused on the themes of love, harmony and beauty. He taught that blind adherence to any book rendered religion void of spirit. Branches of Inayat Khan’s movement can be found in the Netherlands, France, England, Germany, the United States, Canada, Russia and Australia. ( Wiki )

Nothing You Ever Do Is Collected In One Moment (A Two Worlds Collide Remix)

Perfection can be found over time when you follow your instincts….

Two worlds collide

Something other than remaining…

I often wonder when a work of art is finished. What defines a piece as being complete; needing no further creative intervention on the part of the artist? Perhaps nothing (completion) is ever collected in one moment. If as artists, we seek to embrace the process, then it is possible that perfection is truly the antithesis to what we hope to accomplish; the creation of great art, the connection with self, and the freedom to allow instinct to govern.

Instinct is a mystery. It has no ending. No point at which it is defined.

When I create a work of art, I first view it as a part of a whole. That whole being one that is infinite.

 – A life time of creating.

That which is the part of a whole, only serves to contribute to a never-ending journey; the idea of nurturing the creative instinct that lies within the realm of the visceral. While at times abandoning conscious decision-making.

Sometimes it serves us well to know that the perfection that is born of one’s decision, is not the perfection that is found over time …

In the end trust in the mystery….

A Spark Of Life Revealing Itself

The patterned floor of my imagination led me to the light…

Moving towards the light from places unknown

like a maze

 – it felt

when i walked

toward myself

and

into the light

I have read and re-read this beautiful and haunting poem by one of my favorite poets. Ina.

Sometimes a day won’t really come at all,
you saw the new light but it sticks in the curtain.
To get something done, you are numb and unable.
No weather this day, grey lingers till dusk,
no hour is set for food on the table.

What happens to days that won’t come to life,
that make us believe that nothing is certain
that stay far away from the calendar pages
and will not be mentioned in history books,
not remembered or mentioned for ever, for ages?

It is in those days that poetry lives
in seclusion, unnoticed by all that makes sense
it sits in easy chairs, waiting for the right word,
or better thoughts, taking its time as daylight won’t come
and hours pass without a sound is heard.

As on those days of oblivion, lines are arranged
to sentences escaped from thoughts, intense
and from the blood, the…

A Post Written With Random Thoughts

Sometimes a post is worth less than a thousand words….

A random image for random thoughts

It is a struggle sometimes to keep up with the pace of life. Better to find a moment of peace. I often think about things too much. For too long. Finding only temporary distraction when I am far too busy. Doing almost nothing of any true importance. Like discovering an insignificant place in time. Is it me, I seek to know? Or a vision of something that holds me captive? It is, perhaps (on a good day) all about waking to the dream that belongs to someone else. Feeling something. Something amiss in my own interpretation. Somewhere in the lost-not-found.

And then…

Feeling a strong sense of delight. In awe. The things inescapable. Like the beauty of a rising sun, an intrepid step, or a moon-filled night.

Then there is of course the consequence of not following the plan. Any plan. Failing to listen to destiny. My destiny.

And now…

It feels like I’ve just begun to say something….

The Waking Dream That Brings Such Beautiful Light

Sometimes it only takes a moment to feel a dream has something to say….

The waking dream in the morning light

a soft moment …

of transition

– sleeping in slumber

– waking in peace

an ethereal awareness

here

now

– in the present moment

centered

in an intuitive way

 – to life

 – to meaning

a very dreaming day …

I have to give all props to my friend AL B Ford for again capturing the wonderful flair and feel of Philadelphia. Northern Liberties is a great part of the city. Bohemian, artistic, industrious and full of life.

The Dream Struggling To Complete Itself (A Waking Dream Remix)

Sometimes a dream no longer has words to say….

The darkest of dreams shed some light

It only takes a moment

– to know

a dream has nothing more to say….

When A Waking Dream Can No Longer Speak In Words

The moment I awoke I knew the dream would end in silence…

Sometimes in the waking a dream can no longer speak

the dream awoke …

with a stutter and a stir

it tried to find

in my mind

words to complete

a story unfolding

– boldly

in slumber

in death

a sleep with an end

and a dream

– with words

unable to speak …

 – a dream struggling to complete itself

ending dreams

no starring role

here
just the things
we sometimes fear…
