“The Silence Series” is one of my favorite series of works. The format of the each series consist of nine images that slowly evolves through the theme. Simplicity and meditation is the central focus of the collection. Select “The Silence Series” tag to see the entire collection.
“The Silence In Urban Meditation” reflects on the city as a place of ambiguity. Where the distraction inherent to city life, is the perfect place to foster a meditation practice of silence.

I discovered this lovely creek while hiking at Barnwell State Park in South Carolina during my artist residency with the state parks. What an incredible reflection. You can feel the stillness.

we didn’t do any work as a group
– afterwards
in the rain with the sleet and mist
a self-awareness deconstructed
to be thought of as weird trying to be normal
– a tentative thought
but i soon found out – asleep
in the abandoned monorail station
that everything was fine

A soft subtle reflection of the sky in a puddle of resting water. After hiking to the summit of Grandfather Mountain, and crossing the gorge via the Mile High Bridge, I was treated to this beautiful view. What a lovely reflection.

I have been so blessed to have a daughter who has given me a lifetime of joy and happiness. She passed away last year at age 33. Thoughout the years, I watched her grow from a young child full of playfulness, to a woman of spirit, and to a mother who could love her children unconditionally. We had some good times, the best of times, and a few times when we were at odds with each other. But then, that is the nature of relationships. Especially between father and daughter. But in-between we shared the greatest of moments. Moments that I am truly thankful for and will cherish for the rest of my life. Here’s to you my lovely daughter. All in Love.
A Rewind: Grandfather Mountain | Hiking in 2002
One of the coolest places at elevation in North Carolina is Grandfather Mountain. It is home of the mile high swinging bridge. At just over 6000 feet it is one of the highest mountain peaks in the state.

Taking the road back home. Traveling north on route 13 along the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Having just left Virginia Beach via the Chesapeake Bay Tunnel, our destination is Philadelphia. We are thankful for a beautiful morning with a lovely fog filled landscape. Looking forward to seeing my grandchildren and family.

It has been a year and a half since my lovely daughter Lady passed away. She has left me and all who love her four beautiful children. I am so thankful and blessed to have them to share life and the memory of their mother. Pictured here are Ming age 2 and Syerra age 14. I had a wonderful holiday filled with their love and laughter.
