Across the River There’s A Place Not Far From Here

The city series….

The bridge that takes us there

it’s there just beyond my reach

a bridge to cross

yesterday I am here

in a present moment

happiness

tomorrow I am there

in a dream to share

ambiguity

across the river

on either side

it’s just the same

nowhere

now

here….

a place not far from myself

    • Thanks for the comment on the colors. I am finding that merging different layering consisting of opposite color values can produce some nice tones. There is so much color. And by the way your recent post on the ocean wave was fantastic.

  4. I like how you’ve made the bridge, etc. look real, but then the colors are more fantastical, which is just what your poem says too (if I’m reading it correctly). Love the combination of the two.

    • Hi Katie, I like your thoughts on the meaning of the poem and the image. One of the on-going themes that I examine in my work is the essence of life with all its ambiguities. Here, the bridge represents moving from one place to another, and the poem brings in the ambiguity that on either side things are just the same i.e. life is uncertainity.

    • Elizabeth, I certainly have missed your comments. The time management is a difficult thing at times. I find that as the blogger-sphere increases I too am finding it hard to keep up.
